Stephen Ross Dooley is one of the defining voices of California’s Central Coast. As a kid in Minnesota, he would obsessively ferment anything he could get his hands on. A curious child to be sure. It seems like a lot more effort than raiding my father’s liquor cabinet, but who am I to judge? That boy went on to attend UC Davis, and harvests in Napa Valley, Edna Valley, Australia and South Africa—always animated with that same inquisitive nature and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
