Marlene Holmes, Master Distiller of Milam & Greene Whiskey Distillery in Blanco, Texas, has shattered expectations, becoming the first American woman distiller to be inducted into Whisky Magazine’s prestigious International Hall of Fame—one of the highest honors in the spirits industry. This cements her legacy as one of the most influential figures in the whiskey world.

Marlene’s impact on whiskey spans over three decades, beginning with Jim Beam in Kentucky under the legendary Booker Noe. She was the first woman hired to work inside the distillery, producing over 1,400 barrels a day while mastering the art of whiskeymaking. In 2018, she brought that unmatched expertise to Milam & Greene, where she has since led the brand to national recognition and critical acclaim. Her relentless dedication has helped redefine American whiskey.

Her induction into The Hall of Fame places her among industry legends like Elmer T. Lee, Jimmy Russell, and Parker Beam—an elite group of pioneers whose influence has shaped the modern whiskey landscape.

Marlene Holmes will be here on Monday, September 15. We’ll have a meet-and-greet with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres from 6 to 6:30.  Then Marlene will lead us through a sit-down, side-by-side tasting of 6 award-winning Milam and Greene Texas Whiskies!
